Welcome to the artwork of Sarah Rintoul
This website presents a few examples of my artwork in three loose themes to reflect the interest and experience that inspired them:
- Domestic, Farm & Wild
- Garden, Art & Architecture
- Endeavour, Leisure & Culture
Living in the Shropshire Hills, I am surrounded by natural beauty of the countryside, farmland, gardens, historic architecture, market towns and a variety of places to visit, each with their related endeavour and own way of living.
What I encounter shapes the natural course and range of what I make. These moments can be from activities and events in life, or a sense of presence felt in a place or from an artefact. At times this has resulted in exhibitions, at other times my creative skills have been applied to projects that enhance a given setting or have assisted others with their own endeavour, leisure, or cultural pursuits. Such work is undertaken via approach in person and spoken word of mouth in conjunction with this website. Consequently, this site does not include online purchasing nor contact details. For notice of forthcoming exhibitions or an update on which aspect of my artwork I am currently engaged in, please see the “News & Interest” page.
Since 2003 my work often includes combining mosaic of natural stone tesserae with sculptural forms and architectural detail to create pieces that can be:
- Wall hung – framed or unframed
- Wall mounted
- Free standing
I enjoy the nature and appeal of this work and how each piece is brought to life with light and shade.
In terms of formal education, I graduated in 1992 with a Batchelor of Fine Art from Leeds University. Prior to that I attended Cambridge College of Art and Technology to complete an Art Foundation Course.
